From 12 to 14 June 2026, the Rečica shooting range was once again international. SD Dušan Poženel Rečica pri Laškem organised the 2nd qualification round of the Lapua European Cup 2026.
This is the 6th time we've organised this competition. And if anyone thought we were taking it for granted, they'd be mistaken. This year too, we've put in the same effort as if it were the first time, with the aim of organising the competition at the highest possible level and ensuring that competitors feel welcome here.
We think we can safely say that we succeeded again this year. The competition went smoothly, without any issues. Good energy prevailed throughout the weekend, filled with laughter, conversations and pleasant moments. The weather was the icing on the cake.
On Friday, we organised an official centre-fire pistol training session, followed by Saturday's competition. We were delighted with a double home victory; Jože Čeper won individually, and the team (J. Čeper, P. Tkalec, E. Vodopivec) also secured gold. Dr. Auprich Andreas (AUT – MT) took second place individually, with Frenchman Chapon Kevin earning the bronze medal. Eva Vodopivec finished in 5th place, and Peter Tkalec in 10th. In the afternoon, we held the official standard pistol training. In the evening, there was the official opening ceremony and the awarding of medals and trophies to the best participants at Thermana Laško. A good dinner ensured a very pleasant evening. Sunday saw the standard pistol competition. France took the team victory this time and also dominated individually – Kevin Chapon became the winner, Patrice Duviel took second place, and Quentin Tassinari won the bronze medal. Slovenia (J. Čeper, P. Tkalec, M. Kecelj) secured second place in the team event, with Austria – Military team taking third. Jože Čeper finished in 4th place, Matija Kecelj in 8th, and Peter Tkalec in 9th.

For us as organisers, it is invaluable to see competitors keen to return. Impressed by the green nature, the organisation, the warmth, the hospitality, the food… we said goodbye to their wish to be able to return to Laško again next year.
Congratulations to the Slovenian representatives on their excellent competition successes!
