Tight finals in Turnišče, the title of champions in rifle only after two extra shots
The best Slovenian shooters competed in the 9th National Mixed Pairs Championship in air rifle and air pistol shooting at the sports hall of the Turnišče Primary School. The competition featured several tense finals, but the most dramatic was the final of the members' rifle competition, where the winner was decided only after extra kicks.
A tense showdown for the national rifle title
In the air rifle mixed pairs final, the pair Sonja Benčina and Maksimilijan Žarić from Shooting club Olimpija and Suzana Lukić and Luka Lukić from Shooting club Trzin tied after 24 shots. The national championship was therefore decided by two more shots, in which the Olimpija pair showed more composure.
The gold medal was won by Sonja Benčina and Maksimilijan Žarić from the shooting club Olimpija, silver Suzana Lukić and Luka Lukić from the Shooting Club Trzin, and bronze went to Teja Medved and Aljaž Kerlatec from the Shooting Club Trzin.
Grosuplje best among juniors with rifle
Lana Kužnik and Timotej Slak from Grosuplje Shooting Club. Second place went to Gal Potrč and Tara Potrč from Rifle Association 1st Pohorje Battalion Ruše, and Florjan Klemenčič and Vita Jakše from the same association.
Title for members with a gun in Železnice
In the air pistol mixed pairs final in the members' competition, the two most accurate were Anja Prezelj and Klemen Tomaševič from the shooting club Lotrič Železniki. The silver medal went to Majda Raušl and Sašo Stojak from the Shooting Club Ptuj, and bronze to Jan Škrabec and Julija Škrabec from Shooting club Škofja Loka.
Junior pistol wins in Rečica pri Laškem
In the final of the junior air pistol competition, the winners were Eva Vodopivec and Renee Lenzi from Shooting club Dušan Poženel Rečica pri Laškem. Second place went to Manja Slak and Nejc Dolenc from Shooting club Gorenja vas, and bronze to Žare Valcl and Taja Primožič from Shooting club Lotrič Železniki.
State Secretary Dejan Židan opens the Championships
The National Championships were officially opened by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport Mag. Dejan Židan. He also stressed the importance of sports infrastructure and the support of local communities in the development of sport, and the role of the Štefan Kovač Turnišče Shooting Club, which educates young athletes, achieves good competition results and regularly hosts important national competitions.
After the opening ceremony, the State Secretary also visited the new Home of firefighters and sport in Turnišče, where a modern multi-purpose building is being built these months. It will also house new modern shooting range, which will provide even better conditions for training and the organisation of major national and international competitions.
Competition with couples from all over Slovenia
The national championship was attended by 52 mixed pairs from 25 Slovenian shooting clubs, who came to Turnišče from different parts of the country, from Primorska and Gorenjska to Štajerska, Dolenjska and Prekmurje. The whole competition was also live-streamed online.
The National Championship was organised by the Shooting Association Štefan Kovač Turnišče and the general sponsor of the competition was Municipality of Turnišče, which supports the development of shooting sports and the organisation of major competitions in the municipality.
