Winners of the 7th National Mixed Pairs Air Rifle Championships in Trzin, Železniki, Ljubljana and Rečica pri Laškem
The fourth National Championships took place on Sunday in the gym of the Turnišče Primary School. After 1994 and 1997, when the national championships for members and juniors were held in Turnišče, as well as the national championship for youth up to 17 years of age, which was organised by the Shooting Association Štefan Kovač Turnišče in 2017, this year's national championship was the first of its kind in the discipline of mixed pairs in one of the towns with the longest shooting tradition in the region.
Official opening with distinguished guests
After the first qualification group of junior air rifle shooters, the official opening of the national championships took place. This honour was conferred on the Mayor of Turnišče, Borut Horvat, who was preceded by speeches by Ljubo Germič, President of the Shooting Federation of Slovenia, and Tine Novak, Member of the National Assembly.
Gorenjska most numerous, locals competed with four mixed pairs
On Sunday, 61 mixed pairs with 122 competitors from 25 shooting associations and clubs from all over the country competed in Turnišče. The largest group was from Železniki with six pairs, five mixed pairs from Ruš and Rečice pri Laškem, while the home shooting club had four mixed pairs.
Teja Medved and Aljaž Kerlatec from Trzin most accurate with air rifle
The final medal matches proved how interesting this format of competition can be, which viewers could also watch live online. In the elite members' competition, Teja Medved and Aljaž Kerlatec from the Shooting Club Trzin won the gold medal, beating Urška Hrašovec and Patrik Jakopička from the Shooting Club 1. pohorski battalion Ruše. The third place went to the second competing pair from Trzin, represented by Suzana and Luka Lukič.
Gold for Železniki, silver for Ptuj
With the pistol, the spectators witnessed an excellent final shooting demonstrated by the two competing pairs, who are also the current national record holders in the discipline, which has been part of the Olympic programme since the Tokyo Olympics. The win went to Anja Prezelj and Klemn Tomašević from the Shooting Club Lotrič Železniki, and the silver medal went to Sašo Stojak and Majda Raušl from the Shooting Club Ptuj. Third place went to Jagoda Tkalec and Jože Čeper.
The best mixed pairs among juniors from Olimpija and Rečice pri Laškem
In the juniors, Tina Horvat and Maksimiljan Žarič from Olimpija won with air rifle, Zoja Kalin and Simon Schuller from the shooting club Dušan Poženel Rečica pri Laškem came second, and Nika Skubic and Gašper Judež from the shooting club Kisovec came third. In the junior air pistol category, the winner was a pair from Rečice pri Laškem, represented by Eva Vodopivec and Gašper Kajtna Poženel, second were Eva Vovk and Renee Lenzi from the Shooting Association Vremščica Vremski Britof, and third were Taja Primožič and Žare Valcl from Železniki.
Turnicians and Tišin residents up to nine places
Among the Pomurje mixed pairs, Žana Rudaš and Leon Režonja from the local shooting club were the highest-placed air rifle members with ninth place. In the junior air rifle event, the mixed pair of the Koloman Flisar Tišina Shooting Club, represented by Urška Kreft and Patrik Cipot, also came ninth.
