8th Turnišče Cup
On Saturday Turnišče hosted the 8th International Turnišče Cup, which brought together top shooters from Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary and Austria, and once again confirmed its reputation as one of the most important shooting events in the region.
In the air rifle discipline, Urška Kuharič from Ormož was again in a class of her own, winning the Turnišče Cup for the fourth time in a row. With an impressive 626.9 rounds she confirmed her dominance and current top form. Her clubmate Nuša Žnidarič came second with 624.3 rounds, and Suzana Lukić from SD Trzin came third with 621.3 rounds.
Men's title goes to the reigning European U18 champion
Gal Potrč from the 1st Pohorski Battalion Ruše Rifle Club won the men's competition. The current European U18 champion from Tallinn was just a hair behind Kuharičeva's score with 626.8 rounds. Hungarian ace Kalman Balint, last year's winner of the Turnišče Cup and last year's European junior champion, finished third this time with 621.5 rounds, behind Jureto Sočič from Murska Sobota, who scored 624.1 rounds.
The team winners in air rifle were the members of SD Kovinar Ormož - Urška Kuharič, Nuša Žnidarič and Eva Petek - who scored a total of 1866.4 rounds. Second place went to the first team of SD 1. Pohorski Bataljon Ruše, and third place to SD Trzin.
Pistol to gold Prezelj and Takač
In air pistol, Anja Prezelj from Železniki won the women's competition with 568 rounds, leaving the women's competition far behind. Second place went to Stanka Miholič from Miklavž pri Ormož and third to Nika Trstenjak from Ljutomer.
In the members' competition, Ivica Takač from the Croatian club SK ALZAS Čakovec was the best with the pistol, scoring 558 rounds and winning the gold medal. Takač was also instrumental in his club's team victory, accumulating 1634 rounds and winning the team classification convincingly.
The Turnišče Cup was the prelude to a weekend of shooting, as the 8th National Mixed Pairs Championship takes place on Sunday at the same venue.
