Shooters in the trap discipline at the World Cup in Lonato without final battles.
In Lonato, Italy, one of the most prestigious shotgun shooting venues in the world, took place ISSF World Cup in Trap, at which the seven-member Slovenian national team also performed. The competition attracted more than 300 of the best trap shooters from around the world and represented one of the strongest tests of the current season.
Slovenia's colours in the women's competition were represented by Jasmina Maček and Tea Topolovec, and in the men's by Boštjan Maček, Matjaž Lepen, Denis Vatovec, Matjaž Hlebš and Tomaž Blazinšek. The team was led by Igor Macur.
After the first day of competition, during which competitors completed three qualifying rounds, the Slovenian representatives did not contend for the top positions. In the men's competition, Boštjan Maček and Tomaž Blazinšek, with 71 hit targets each, were placed around 50th place out of 206 competitors. Jasmina Maček, with 63 hits, was in 76th place out of 106 female competitors.
Following the end of the qualifiers, the best Slovenian achievement in the men's competition was by Tomaž Blazinšek, who with excellent final series of 24 hits and a total of 119 targets hit, achieved 34th place among 208 ranked shooters. In the women's competition, Jasmina Maček finished the competition in 86th place with 100 targets hit.
For the World Cup finals, two mixed pairs also represented Slovenia. Tea Topolovec and Matjaž Lepen finished in 31st place with 134 targets hit, while Jasmina Maček and Boštjan Maček took 45th place with 130 hits. To qualify for the final four pairs, a minimum of 145 flying targets needed to be hit.
Although Slovenian representatives did not manage to achieve top places in Lonato, the appearance at one of the strongest competitions in the ISSF world calendar represented an important international test and valuable experience for the continuation of the season.
