The awards for the best marksmen and markswomen went to :

Strelka: JASMINA MAČEK from the Shooting Club Trap Štefan Kovač Murska Sobota

Jasmina Maček, a member of SD Trap Štefan Kovač Murska Sobota, won her first title of the best shooter of the year in Slovenia. Jasmina also continues the strong family tradition of great shooting successes, as she is the third shooter from the Maček family to win the best shooter of the season, alongside her nephew Rene Maček and brother Boštjan Maček. Mačkova fought her way to the top, in a close battle with Olympian Živa Dvoršak, at the European Shooting Championships in Baku, where she won the European Trap title in the new Olympic mixed pairs event, paired with teammate Tomaž Blazinšek. In the individual trap competition, Mackova finished 25th and 46th at the World Championships in Moscow. Mačková has improved her shooting a lot since 2015, when she also competed at the European Games in Baku, and with a strong will and good training at her home renovated shooting range in Rakičan near Murska Sobota, she has climbed to the top of the competition among our good members in Slovenia.

Sagittarius: RAJMOND DEBEVEC from the Olimpija Shooting Club

The 2017 top scorer award went to Olympic gold medallist Rajmond Debevec. The latter added the 33rd Best Shooter of the Year award to his lifetime of excellent shooting achievements. The 2016/17 season was once again full of glittering medals from the biggest competitions for Debevec, this time he won two medals at the European Championships in Baku, where he won individual bronze in the 300m prone with a large-calibre rifle, and then helped Slovenia to its first team silver medal in this discipline in the team event. Debevec's excellent shooting at the EP in Baku rewarded him with a third medal in the large calibre standard rifle, where he had to settle for fourth place after a close decision and only two rounds behind the gold. In addition to his EP honours, Raymond has also set or improved five national records this season. His good shooting was also confirmed at the European Cup in Thun, Switzerland, where he won the triple and the bronze in the prone position. In the European Cup final in Tolmezzo, he finished fifth in the triple position, but was only two rounds behind the winner in the prone position, finishing in 12th place. He was similarly successful in the standard rifle, where he finished 7th. Debevec remains highly motivated even after the 40th year of his national team career, and with a lot of daily training he is striving for new great achievements in the biggest competitions in the world.

Youth: JAGODA TKALEC From Shooting club Dušan Poženel Rečica pri Laškem

Jagoda Tkalec, a member of SD Dušan Poženel Rečica pri Laškem, won the title of the best female shooter of the year for the second time in a row in her last junior season. Jagoda has been named Shooter of the Year four times so far, once each in the Cadet and Pioneer competitions. Jagoda has been very successful this year with both air and small calibre pistols in both national and international competitions. Her best result of the season was a high 11th place at the EP in Baku with the 25m pistol. Her good shooting skills were also confirmed at the home EP in Maribor, where she finished 17th with air pistol, missing the final by only three rounds. At the Junior European Championships in Suhl, she finished 53rd in 25m air pistol. Jagoda also set three national records during the season and was very competitive or even better than her older teammates in many competitions. She won the title of national champion among the members at the Air Pistol DP, and repeated her achievement with the small calibre pistol at 25m. Jagoda is determined and confident that she will continue her good results in the members' competition.

Junior: JOŽE ČEPER from the Shooting Club Vremščica Vremski Britof

Jože Čeper, a member of the Vremščica Shooting Club from Vremski Britof, won the third best shooter award in Slovenia in his last youth season in 2017. Jože shone in full glory this year, as he achieved excellent results in three major competitions. Firstly, he finished three rounds behind the finalists at his home Air Weapons EP in Maribor, finishing 18th. He followed this up with a 22nd place in the air pistol event at the Junior World Championships in Suhl, Germany, and an even better performance in his flagship event, the 25m small calibre pistol event, where he finished in a high 8th place, just two rounds behind the top spot, while improving his personal and national record by three rounds. The highlight of his season came just a month later when he finished fifth at the European Championships in Baku, with the same result as the third-placed athlete and just one round behind the European champion. Jože also won the national air pistol and 25m pistol titles, the national 50m pistol title and the national 25m rapid fire pistol title. Alongside these outstanding achievements, Jože improved six national records in three different disciplines, for which he and his coach Andrej Brunsek deserve great recognition.

Cadet: KATARINA FEVŽER from the Shooting Club Slovenske Konjice

SD Slovenske Konjice member Katarina Fevžer has had an excellent season, winning the double national championship with small calibre rifle in prone and triple position. Her three national cadet records with small calibre rifle are also very remarkable. In addition, she also won the silver medal in the overall National Cadet Rifle League. For the first time, Katarina Fevžer won the coveted title of the best female shooter of the year, which is a nice recognition for the many hours of shooting training she has done.

Cadet: RENE MAČEK from the Shooting Club Trap Štefan Kovač Murska Sobota

Rene Maček, a shotgun shooter and member of SD Trap Štefan Kovač Murska Sobota, follows in his father's shooting footsteps and this year won his first title of the best shooter of the year. His season was marked by many national records, which he achieved mainly in the cadet and junior competition in double trap. He won a bronze medal at the National Trap Championships. He competed with the national team at the EP in Baku, where he came 19th, and at the Junior World Cup in Porpetto, Italy, where he came 39th.
