The National Trap Championship in the individual competition took place in Ilirska Bistrica between 22 and 23 June, with 42 competitors from 14 shooting clubs. The competition was held with a few setbacks, mainly in sunny but windy weather on Sunday. The latter somewhat »tainted« the Sunday results, which were therefore slightly lower than initially indicated. After 125 targets were shot, the highest number of hits was scored by Denis Vatovec (SD Vrhnika) and Matjaž Hlebš (SD Olimpija), who shot 118 targets. Both had the same series schedule (25,24,24,22,23). The third place after the basic part of the competition went to Matjaž Lepen (SD Trap Ormož), who hit 116 targets (25,24,21,23,23,23), the fourth place after the additional blasting went to Tadej Kostanjevec (ŠSD Radgona), who hit 113 targets (24,22,22,22,23,22). The same final score was also achieved by the fifth placed Boštjan Maček (SD Trap Š. Kovač M. Sobota: 24,20,24,23,22) and the sixth placed Dušan Hojnik (SD Poetovio: 23,23,24,22,21).
All of them qualified for the final, where Hojnik was eliminated after an opening series of 25 shots, finishing 6th. After five more targets, Kostanjevec had to say goodbye to the competition, finishing 5th. Hlebš took the ungrateful 4th place. The third place and thus a place on the winner's podium went to Vatovec, the second place after the final fight on 10 targets went to Lepen, and the winner's laurel for the 16th time went to Maček, who came to victory after a remarkable series of 41 consecutive hits.
The competitors are still waiting for the National Team Championships, organised by SD Trap Ormož on 29 June.
